Why the brand new Careershifters Workshops are getting Selina so excited...

By Selina Barker

About two months ago I met a pair of truly inspiring career coaches – Marianne Cantwell and Marc Jerrard – with great career change stories of their own: Both had been in high-powered jobs in the City and had traded them in for what they found were far more fulfilling careers as performance and career coaches.

A lot of the coaches I meet I think are great, but what made Marc and Marianne stand out was the intelligence with which they approached the subject of career change and their in-depth knowledge and understanding of human behaviour that really got me excited. They took me through their psychometric assessment process and it was there that I was totally blown away. Here I was thinking I had myself pretty much sussed but they produced results that they in turn helped me address and turn into practical actions that have, since then, had a very visible and positive impact not only on my career, but on my life as a whole.

The more they taught me about their approaches to career change, the more excited I became and the more determined I was to bring their career change wisdom and powerful exercises to you lot – the Careershifters crowd. Trouble was, Marc for one doesn’t write, so articles were out of the question and two, the magic only seemed to really happen in person...

In the end, and to my stunned surprise, they came to us with a proposal of creating a brand new series of Careershifters Workshops that they would not only design but also deliver. Needless to say we pretty much bit off their hand in our excitement to accept.
And so, just a few months later, I am very excited to be able to now proudly announce (drum roll please) the launch of our very first in a series of brand new Careershifters workshops, designed by leading career coaches and human behaviour specialists, Marc Jerrard and Marianne Cantwell.

*New* Careershifters Workshop: "How to find the career that is right for you"

Marianne and Marc have designed this first workshop for those of you right at the beginning of your careershift when you know you want a new career that you can really enjoy, but don't know yet what the right career for you actually is.

What you’ll get from this new workshop

No matter what your situation, no matter what frame of mind you come to the workshops in, you won’t be able to leave without having been properly shaken up and ironed out by Marc and Marianne so that you will leave feeling fired up, inspired, clear on what steps you need to take next and with a powerful set of tools, exercises and an action plan that you can use over the following months to really get clear on what new career will suit you best.

This 2 ½ hour workshop costs less than a one hour session with a career coach

As you may well be aware, the Careershifters commitment is to providing the very best and most affordable career change guidance and support out there and so we’ve managed to find a way to offer this 2 ½ hour workshops for just £85 and not only that we’re giving everyone £10 off as a special launch price or £15 off if you buy 2 tickets and bring a friend.

That’s almost half the price of what it costs to have a one hour private coaching session and with our workshops you get the extra benefit of meeting and making useful contacts among other career changers in the same boat as you. It’s a pretty sweet deal.

The difference this workshops would have made to my career change

I can’t over emphasise enough how lucky we are to have Marc and Marianne designing and running these workshops. I loved the long and winding path of my career change, but it did take me 3 years of trial and error to figure out what career would really make me happy. If I’d had the guidance and wisdom of Marc and Marianne helping me back then, I’m pretty sure I could have cut that down to about 3 months! But you live and learn – and you all may as well learn from my mistakes.
So if you’re ready for a new career – one that really makes you come alive -  then I whole-heartedly recommend this workshop.
I look forward to seeing some of you there at the first workshop on the 6th October.
Oh, and if London is too far for you to come, then we are planning to spread these workshops across the UK (for starters) so watch this space in 2010!
