How the Careershifters Guide that I wrote ended up helping ME change career!

By Selina Barker on 30 August 2009 at 15:24 in ShiftLogs

After my week's holiday, when I spent my time writing the Careershifters Guide and got to live out my ideal career and lifestyle, work got more unbearable. It wasn't the fault of the people there, or the job. It was a great company and a great job, it just wasn't the job for me and now it stood in stark contrast to that week where I'd got to work in the way I dreamed of. More

Trying to be a square peg in a round hole

By Selina Barker on 17 June 2009 at 14:34 in ShiftLogs

My new job as a recruitment consultant was a great learning opportunity and I was hugely grateful for the income, but after the novelty of the first few months wore off, I was faced with the reality that this just wasn't the career for me - not for the long-term. It was back to the drawing board and time to come up with a new plan... More

Arriving kicking and screaming into the world

By Richard on 20 November 2006 at 11:30 in Careershifters Blog

Well, after more than two years of hard graft, we're finally there. Careershifters went live in its first public (pilot) incarnation yesterday.

It's been a herculean task to get here, but it's also been a lot of fun. And now we're just at the beginning of a longer journey as we build the site into what we hope will become the largest, most comprehensive, most useful career change community on the web.

A big round of applause then for Selina, Neil and Mark for busting themselves over the last few months to get the final pieces in places, for the wider Careershifters team (Cath, Mel, Devi, Chris, Vai, Gabby) for all their input, faith and hard work over the past two years, to our founding coaches (Lisa, Satu, Holly) for their support and enthusiasm for the project, and to the numerous people who've lent a hand, given advice or just offered a few supportive words during the process. In true Oscar style, we've said a small few "thank you's" on our About Us page, where you can also read more about why we're here and where we're planning to go in the future.

Most importantly as we continue to build the site, we'd like your input. What do you think? What else would you like to see? What else can we do for you to help you make a positive shift in your career? Our feedback form is here - do let us know what you think - and otherwise, looking forward to having you as part of the journey with us.
