By Sab on 21 May 2011 at 15:37 in Careershifters Blog

Here is a book that could help any of you who are on a quest to live life on your own terms, believing that there is more to work (and indeed life) than a big paycheque or social status. By Richard on 15 February 2007 at 08:27 in Careershifters Blog

Your Ethical Business bookA pre-publication copy of Paul Allen's Your Ethical Business book arrived in the Careershifters HQ today (thank you Paul). If you've any interest in being a social, ethical or environmental entrepreneur, this is an excellent primer on all the different aspects you'll need to consider to get your business started.

Paul kindly invited Careershifters to submit some tips on how to make the leap from your old day job into running your own ethical business and naturally, we were happy to oblige. Turn to page 42 in the book, or read the five tips here on the Careershifters site.

Changing the world 9 to 5

By Richard on 22 November 2006 at 23:00 in Careershifters Blog

Change The World 9 to 5So, a copy of We Are What We Do's latest book, Change the World 9 to 5 arrived in the Careershifters HQ last month.

Like their previous Change The World With A Fiver, this book brilliantly balances worthwhile actions with a wonderful design and a healthy dose of humour.

Actions we particularly like include and "Try a job swap" (no. 68) and "Aspire not to have more, but to be more" (no. 82), but dare we say it, our favourites are in the submissions listed on the fold-out cover that didn't make it into the main book... "Dare to talk about your dreams with your employer"; "If what I'm doing isn't working, change what I'm doing"; and "Do a job you're passionate about!"

And if you've been delving into our ShiftStories, you'll also know that Eugenie Harvey, Director of We Are What We Do, is a career shifter herself. You can read her story here.
