I got my BA in Biology in 1990 and somehow ended up in the field of chemistry - my worst subject. I would like to find a way to implement my teaching/training/mentoring goals and at the same time get out of the chemistry biz but I don't know what options there are to use these skills...

Consider all the contacts you've made over the years that could help to open a door - although chemistry isn't your thing now it could provide useful insights to help you learn about training type possibilities. Make a contract with yourself to meet at least three people every week, ask each one to give you two more contacts who could help you on your journey...

Start to consider what it is that is missing from your current job and list out all the things you don't like. Even though you are getting plenty of satisfaction from what you do now, your feelings seem to be telling you that a more satisfying career is possible...

Although I have spent a huge amount of time trying to determine what I may like to do I am completely stuck. At the moment I need to find some work and it is likely that I will return to the same work because I cannot find the answers.

To help you move forward I'd like you to consider each of your issues separately. Find a person, a friend or relative whom you trust and whose advice you value, to act as a sounding-board and test each of the ideas with them.
