I've made an online 'book' about career/life change processess...

By Sab

I was encouraged by Selina and some other Careershifters to write some of my ideas about career/life change down.... so i've made a collection of articles about emotional processes that can occur with career/life change:

lafemmesabotage.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/if-youre-stuckfinal.pdf

Please give it a look, i hope it can help you in some way on your journey.

Best wishes,

Sab xx

Just finished reading this cover to cover & in the spirit of giving spontaneous positive feedback i'd just like to say how truly inspiring i found this to be. Not only was it incredibly well written & a pleasure to read but the advice you offer is heartfelt & honest. As a reader, I felt a real empathy & connection to your words & i think your first hand experience of this process has proved a valuable tool in striking the right note with this guide. I've definitely learnt things i'd not considered before, things that i know when digested & followed through will make a huge difference to my overall well-being & my career search. I'd strongly urge others to read this, it's a great jumping off point & offers some fantastic insight.

Sab, this is fantastic. I've been lurking about on various career help sites and never committing but your "book" was great and made me laugh out loud. I realised my ego was not just an eager puppy but a ninja dog wearing armour. It really explained why despite my secret internal hippy I continue to push myself in an isolating masculine work environment. I survive by being good at nuturing myself and keeping my ego well out of my hobbies. well today i let the tables turn, i let my ego dog out and my gentle swim turned into an hour of pumping up and down the pool with ease, but then my ego left me alone for once to do a little daydreaming about aligning all that drive to something that fits with my values. Rock on.

Sab, I partially read your E-book yesterday. I think it is a skillful, creative and elegant contribution to this site. The balance of the content of this website is slightly weighted towards those writing from having completed the Career Shift/Life Shift journey and who are "recollecting in tranquility". They are re-presenting the wisdom of what they learned along the way. Your contribution is written more from the very beginning of the journey, when one has perhaps just set the intention to change and entered the dark forest of turmoil 'alone into the unknown'. There's little clarity in the gloom, the path may be invisible, there are no reference points from the Savannah one has just left and one may be without guidance or companions. Like the Hitchhiker's Guide, you have given a few suggestions about how to endure the situation without panicking. Any attempt at making fundamental change must inevitably give rise to periods of uncertainty and confusion of the kind you describe and put across at length. But it also includes the hope that this risky venture may eventuate in the discovery of a new light. It's a Hero's Journey. I think you put that across too. I wish you well in your onward journey.
