Learning to let go when in career transition

Something that keeps tripping me up is ‘letting go’ and fear. I think we hold a lot of this stuff in and feel obliged to bear it, rather than drop it!

I’m intrigued to know what your thoughts are on this. How do we raise the stakes to make it imperative to drop things that hold us back?

I figured if i have at least 4 personal heartfelt 'truths' that i would defend to the end, then those 4 'anchors' would mean i'd never be lost.

What's 'best for you' is the best. Whatever, in your mind, is the best is obviously best for you. It doesn't get much simpler than that!

I dare anyone to try this exercise - listing people who really enjoy what they do. It's incredibly inspiring and the search is very very addictive.

i don't know exactly what's next or how things will pan out, but i feel very lucky and happy to have found something that i know i'm good at, that i'm completely open hearted to do, and that i know i enjoy when i'm doing it.

Make sure the 'how' is as exciting and well-suited to you as the 'what'

i believe that with hard graft the world does reward people who pursue their dreams, but the journey to that moment of success has to be fun and empowering, not draining, cuz darnit, you need as much energy as you can for the long road!

Career Shifting = A long term process of discovery

For some people, career changing and finding their vocation or 'place' in the world can happen relatively quickly, maybe in less than a year. But for others it can take years. And it's not through a lack of courage or willpower. It's to do with clarity and exploration, learning from hard experience, trial and error. I feel i'm going to be one of those people. And the only way to get 'there' is to move forward, make mistakes, learn from them and enjoy the ride.

it is great to see her living her dream and be passionate about what she does, very inspiring! when you know of somebody who has made a successful change it is heartening.

i can't tell you in this blog that i've hit on the perfect career yet, but this feels like the right mental state to be in to get me closer to something that's right for me.
