Careershifting onwards ... time to be my own boss!

By chelseagirl

Come with me on an adventure - I'm about to embark on an exciting journey, begin a new chapter in my life - which, to be honest, has had its fair share of changes already!

I'm currently working for one of the world's top photography agencies as a picture research manager and it's okay here - the job's okay, the pay's good, the hours are so-so and the people are nice .... but it's just not for me. Since becoming a manager I seem to spend my life in one pointless meeting after another, making procedural changes for the sake of change ..... it's getting me down and I want out.

Time to move on ... and time to stop working for someone else and start working for myself - time to take control of the situation, time to start making decisions for myself for once.

And luckily for me I can move on, because I'm on a temporary contract, maternity cover for a colleague, so at the end of May I'll be a free agent and starting to live the dream of being my own boss.

Stay tuned to find out where I came from and where I'm headed.

How can we make Careershifters better?

Hi Chelseagirl -

It's great to have you blogging! I'm curious as to what your plans are for when you become your own boss, but I'm sure you'll come on to that in later entries...

Looking forward to them - and welcome!

Richard.
