I think I've found my groove!

By Selina Barker

I've been sitting here now for half an hour, hands hovering over the keyboard. Mind blank.

Since I began my blog and my careershift adventure, every day has taken a new turn. Flying by on a wing and a prayer I've just about kept my head above water. It's been a roller coaster ride - both anxious and exhilarating - leaping into the unknown is not for the faint hearted. I just kept taking one step at a time, always moving forward.

I had become so comfortable living in a spin that I couldn't imagine life being any other way. I was always looking to fill in the missing gaps.

Suddenly, I can't find any gaps.

For the first time since I can remember I'm not looking for the next step forward. An unfamiliar stillness has settled in me. I have no other way of describing it other than...I think I've found my groove.

My life finally feels balanced, I'm living at a natural, simple pace of life where the boundaries between work and play have suddenly dissolved. I'm doing what I want and loving what I'm doing. The sense of fulfilment is amazing.

I set out in July not knowing where I was headed. I wanted to prove that a career off the beaten track was possible, that there was more to life than a 9 to 5. I wrote in my first blog ‘I have this one precious life and I intend to live it to the full, no more selling myself short just to play it safe.' And I've stayed true to my word.

Inspired by people that had done it before me and remaining mindful that we create our own reality, I've done what I set out to do. I'm living a life that I love. And I know I am because I almost feel like I've dissolved into it...

But the journey isn't over, I'm not stopping here. There are books to be created, a thriving business to be built and words to be written. The difference now is that I'm no longer looking to fix a life that 'isn't quite right'. My life is just the way I want it to be.

All that's left now is to enjoy it to the full and create!
