There is nothing worse than starting the day by dragging yourself back into a job you can't stand. Whether it's the work, the environment, your boss or the hours that you're fed up with, the chances are you're here right now because enough is enough - it's time for a change. Selina Barker, Careershifters' events maestro, explains how a Careershifters workshop might be just the ticket to get your career back on track.

Just over a year ago, four plucky young entrepeneurs launched the Careershifters website - taking the first steps towards building a definitive online guide for anyone thinking about or in the middle of a career change. Family and friends thought we were mad - we left our jobs, went part-time, took massive pay cuts, but we were so excited about our vision for Careershifters that it didn't matter.

And so, as part of the plan, we launched the Careershifters 'Reignite Your Career' events - monthly evening workshops for career changers run by the Careershifters team and professional career coaches at the Hub in London.

Since then word has spread, Time Out love us, so that now workshops are rapidly booking up and selling out weeks in advance.

Truth is there's nothing quite like bringing together people who are going through a common experience in their careers. People so often feel alone when they are going through a career change and to meet other people in the same boat, going through similar doubts, anxieties and fears makes a huge difference. Add to that inspiring guest speakers that tell their story of how they made a successful career change, followed by a powerful hour long career coaching session to move everyone along a good step or two on their career change journey, and you've got the ingredients for a pretty special evening.

Now it is NOT a miracle workshop - you won't leave after 2 and a half hours knowing exactly what job will make you happy and how to get it (although it has been known to happen), but you will leave feeling inspired, more confident and with a set of clear actions for you to take over the following weeks.

That's when the big changes start, we've had participants leave the workshop and hand in their resignation a few days later, people have landed great new jobs within weeks, or signed up to a part-time course to retrain for a new career.

What difference will it make to you?

Everyone's career shift is different, for some it happens over night, for others it takes a few years, some jump into the unknown enjoying the thrill of winging it, while others plan so that the transition is smooth and stress-free.

Whatever way you end up doing it, it helps to know you're not alone, to meet others in the same boat and receive guidance from those who've seen and helped hundreds of people go through it before.

So if you fancy a bit of that, sign up to the next Careershifters workshop, guaranteed to be an evening well spent!
