I don’t know about you but I find the whole world of web development incredibly exciting. The web is revolutionising the way we live, work, communicate and things are developing and evolving at an exhilarating rate.
Whether you’re creative, technical, visionary, entrepreneurial or all of the above, there’s plenty for you to get involved in.
And right now there are some really exciting opportunities for those of you that want to get into software development for the web: The Scott Trust Ltd, owner of Guardian Media Group plc, is offering two bursaries to assist students who face financial difficulty in attaining the necessary qualifications needed to pursue a career in software development for the web.
Above all they are encouraging female graduates who have been disadvantaged in terms of their career as a result of family or other domestic commitments, to apply, particularly women returning to the workplace – a group recognised as being under-represented in software development.
The bursary pays for tuition fees and provides a subsistence allowance of £5,000. The bursary will also include a work placement at Guardian Media Group and while the bursary doesn’t come with a guaranteed offer of employment within Guardian Media Group, several awardees of other Scott Trust Ltd bursary schemes have been offered jobs with GMG titles and businesses following their training.
