We’ve scoured the internet looking for useful sites to help you with your shift, whether it’s to start your own business or to explore career areas you haven’t thought of.
 
Businesslink.gov.uk
First port of call for anyone considering staerting up their own business or going freelance/self-employed – includes a useful section on self-assessment and tax returns, as well as financing your business.

This site is aimed specifically for researchers, policy staff and people working in higher education academia. If you’d like to move into this area, or are a graduate that is thinking about moving forward into a research post, then this is a great site for you.
 
Prospects.ac.uk
This is aimed at graduates, but their info on job sectors and areas give great overviews on the kinds of jobs available, and they provide case studies of people who work in different jobs, providing personal insight into what it’s really like to work in those sectors.

ECCA
This site  has podcasts, case studies, factsheets and other resources for anyone who wants to set up their own creative enterprise or business. If you are a student or graduate of the University of Arts London you can have 1:1 advice sessions too.

Princes Trust
The Princes Trust site has free download guides that cover all aspects of setting up your own business, including finance and funding.

Skillset
If you are considering working in the creative industries and media sector, the Skillset website has information about training, case studies, and useful links to help you on your way.

 Direct.gov.uk
This is the government's own web portal with information on retraining and career change, choosing a career, financing and apprenticeships.

GET - graduatejobs and schemes
The GET website allows you to brose jobs and graduate placements, as well as offers career advice for a large range of different job sectors.
